The Historical Archive of Albacete opens its doors to present the exhibition of the 27th edition of the Luis Valtueña International Humanitarian Photography Award, which is organised annually by Doctors of the World to publicise the commitment of photojournalists who, through their eyes, bring us closer to the most difficult realities of the world.

The photographic exhibition can be visited in the Albacete Historical Archive from 26 March to 14 April, from 11am to 1.30pm and from 5pm to 8pm, Monday to Friday.

The exhibition is part of the project ‘For the Right to Health’ thanks to funding from Albacete City Council, and thanks to the collaboration of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla – La Mancha. It is included in Miradas, the photography competition organised every year by the Provincial Council of Albacete.

The inauguration took place on Thursday 27 March at 18:30, with the intervention of Pura Quintanilla as representative of Médicos del Mundo and María Llanos Navarro as Councillor of Albacete City Council, as well as Diego Pérez González as Provincial Delegate of Education, Culture and Sports of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla – La Mancha in Albacete, and Juani García, Provincial Delegate of Health.

After the inauguration, a guided tour was offered to all those who attended and wanted to learn more about the content of the exhibition, as well as the history of the Luis Valtueña awards, which Médicos del Mundo Spain organises every year to bring closer parallel universes that do not always appear in the media and that humanitarian photography gives them their place in this exhibition: because their stories deserve to be told.

Armed conflicts such as those in Myanmar and Ethiopia, the uncounted deaths on the Mediterranean Sea route and the consequences of rural exodus for the elderly are the winning projects of the 27th edition of the Luis Valtueña International Humanitarian Photography Award.
