He later went on to direct the Antena3 TV photography department and joined the editorial staff of the publication FV Actualidad. He began to work with M\u00e9dicos del Mundo as a logistician in 1996 for a team that went to Lebanon to care for the population under the shelling there. After working in the M\u00e9dicos del Mundo refugee camp in Mugunga (Zaire) in 1994, she went to work for the Escaleritas health centre in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Flors was killed in Rwanda in January 1997. He temporarily left his job at the Seville City Council\u2019s Department of Health to join the M\u00e9dicos del Mundo project in Rwanda. She earned a degree in Pedagogy and Educational Science from Madrid\u2019s Universidad Complutense and earned a Master\u2019s degree in Public Health and Clinical Assistance. She worked as a consultant for UNICEF in Brazil and with the United Nations Development Programme in Guinea Bissau. In 1995, as a logistician with a M\u00e9dicos del Mundo team, she went to Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) to protect the victims of the war in the former Yugoslavia. She was killed in Mostar that same year.<\/p>\n      \t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n    \t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n  \t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n<p>With this award, our aim is to provide continuity to the work of all of those who, like them, contributing to building a fairer world. Their commitment and solidarity are values that constitute the essence of this competition.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"col-md-12 mt-5 mb-5\">\n    <h2 class=\"big48 font-bold font-family-ch-bold\">M\u00e9dicos del Mundo<\/h2>\n    <h2 class=\"big48 font-normal font-family-ch-normal\">31 years fighting against all diseases, including injustice<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-6 offset-md-6 mt-5entry-content big22\">M\u00e9dicos del Mundo (Doctors of the World) is an NGO, independent of any political or religious affiliation, that promotes human development by defending every person\u2019s fundamental right to health and a dignified life. The organization is made up of volunteers and staff who join their efforts to achieve universal, fair access to health and denounce violations of this right.<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nIn 2019, M\u00e9dicos del Mundo Espa\u00f1a worked in 21 countries or territories in Africa, America, Asia and Europe through 109 projects, 67 of which involved development cooperation and 43 of which involved humanitarian aid (emergency relief), directly benefitting nearly three million people. We also carried out 94 projects in Spain, providing care to nearly a further 20,000 people.<\/div>\n<div class=\"big40 font-normal font-family-ch-normal col-md-6 mt-5 mb-5\">\n\t<h2>Lines of action<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-6 offset-md-6 mb-5\">\n<div class=\"accordion md-accordion\" id=\"accordionEx\" role=\"tablist\" aria-multiselectable=\"true\">\n  <div class=\"card\">\n    <div class=\"card-header\" role=\"tab\" id=\"headingOne1\">\n      <a class=\"collapsed\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionEx\" href=\"#collapseOne1\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"collapseOne1\">\n        <h5 class=\"big22 mb-0\">International Cooperation <i class=\"down-arrow float-right\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/premio-luis-valtuena\/img\/down-arrow.svg\" width=\"20px\" height=\"30px\"><\/i>\n        <\/h5>\n      <\/a>\n    <\/div>\n    <div id=\"collapseOne1\" class=\"collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"headingOne1\" data-parent=\"#accordionEx\">\n      <div class=\"card-body big20\">The development cooperation projects are geared to addressing major health issues in the communities involved and provide promotion, treatment and rehabilitation services to solve them. Taking a long-term approach, the programs are integrated into the structures of the Ministries of Health in the countries where we work facing tremendous challenges, such as the lack and\/or constant turnover of health personnel, particularly acute in Africa.\r\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n  <\/div>\n  <div class=\"card\">\n    <div class=\"card-header\" role=\"tab\" id=\"headingTwo2\">\n      <a class=\"collapsed\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionEx\" href=\"#collapseTwo2\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapseTwo2\">\n        <h5 class=\"big22 mb-0\">Humanitarian Aid <i class=\"down-arrow float-right\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/premio-luis-valtuena\/img\/down-arrow.svg\" width=\"20px\" height=\"30px\"><\/i>\n        <\/h5>\n      <\/a>\n    <\/div>\n    <div id=\"collapseTwo2\" class=\"collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"headingTwo2\" data-parent=\"#accordionEx\">\n      <div class=\"card-body big20\">M\u00e9dicos del Mundo facilitates aid to the most vulnerable population in areas affected by natural disasters or conflicts. Our intervention aims to assure health care and rebuild damaged health infrastructure. We not only intervene in emergencies, but also work to prepare disaster response and implement early warning systems.\r\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n  <\/div>\n  <div class=\"card\">\n    <div class=\"card-header\" role=\"tab\" id=\"headingThree3\">\n      <a class=\"collapsed\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionEx\" href=\"#collapseThree3\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapseThree3\">\n        <h5 class=\"big22 mb-0\">Social inclusion <i class=\"down-arrow float-right\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/premio-luis-valtuena\/img\/down-arrow.svg\" width=\"20px\" height=\"30px\"><\/i>\n        <\/h5>\n      <\/a>\n    <\/div>\n    <div id=\"collapseThree3\" class=\"collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"headingThree3\" data-parent=\"#accordionEx\">\n      <div class=\"card-body big20\">Also in developed countries like our own, there are groups who are excluded. It is to them, to those who are drug users, live in prostitution, are homeless and\/or immigrants without access to the health system that we gear our attention which aims to impact the causes that lead to these violations of rights. We also address the issue of female genital mutilation to prevent its physical, psychological, social and legal implications through prevention and awareness raising. To bring this about, it aims to engage society in situations of inequality and violations of the right to health. We also try to Foster critical thought to build a civil society which, in the Global North and South alike, is committed to solidarity and whose demands are taken into account when political, economic and social decisions are taken.
